General Painting
We serve the whole island — Honolulu, Waikiki, Hawaii Kai, Kahala, Manoa, Kailua, Kaneohe, Waipahu, Kapolei, Ewa Beach, Mililani, Aiea, Pearl City, the North Shore, and the Waianae Coast.
Yes. About three quarters of our work is residential and the rest is commercial — HOA communities, apartments, hotels, retail, office, and new construction.
Yes. Kapili Painting operates under Hawaii contractor license BC-28938 and carries current insurance. Certificates are available on request for commercial and association projects.
We have been painting Oahu properties since 2007.
Estimates
Yes. On-site estimates are free. We walk the property, assess surfaces and prep needs, then send a written estimate with scope and pricing before anything is scheduled.
Cost depends on square footage, surface condition, prep required, coating system, height and access, and how much trim or detail work is involved. Two homes of the same size can differ substantially, which is why the walkthrough is what makes a number accurate.
A complete estimate names the surfaces being painted, the prep sequence, the specific primer and coating products, the number of coats, what is excluded, and the projected schedule. Without those, bids cannot be compared fairly.
30 Days
Exterior Painting
It depends far more on exposure than on age. Coastal and full-sun elevations weather fastest; shaded and leeward walls last longer. A walkthrough tells you which elevations need attention now and which can wait.
Most single-family homes run from a few days to about a week depending on size, prep needs, and weather. Larger or multi-building properties are scheduled in phases.
Nearly always. Washing removes dirt, chalking, salt, and mildew so the new coating can bond. How it is done matters — too much pressure damages substrates, and the surface has to dry fully before priming.
Yes. Cracks, holes, failed caulking, and rot are addressed before priming. Larger structural repairs are quoted separately so the cost is visible rather than buried.
Interior Painting
Clear small items, electronics, and wall decor where you can. We move larger furniture away from the walls and cover it before work starts.
Wet rooms in Hawaii do better with washable, moisture-tolerant finishes rather than flat paint. We recommend the specific sheen during the walkthrough based on ventilation and use.
In most cases yes. We work room by room so you keep the rest of the house, and we discuss low-odor product options if anyone in the home is sensitive.
Commercial & AOAO
Yes. Most commercial work happens while buildings stay occupied. We phase the work, post notices ahead of each area, and keep access routes open.
Yes. We are used to board timelines, bid packages, and reserve-study schedules, and can present scope and pricing at a board or owner meeting.
Yes. Larger properties are scheduled building by building or wing by wing so residents and staff always know what is happening and when.
Preparation & Products
Washing, scraping, sanding, minor repairs, caulking, and priming are included in the estimated scope, confirmed in writing before work starts.
The right system depends on the substrate and the exposure — UV resistance for sun-facing walls, mildew resistance for shaded and windward surfaces, and corrosion-resistant products for coastal metal. We name the specific products in the estimate.
Plants, walkways, fixtures, and furniture near the work area are masked and covered before any prep or spraying begins, and the site is cleaned at the end of each day.
Weather & Scheduling
We track the forecast and adjust. Exterior work pauses during rain and resumes when surfaces are dry, which protects the finish rather than risking a failed coat.
Yes, with planning. Work is sequenced around drier windows and by elevation, so progress continues without applying coatings to damp surfaces.

Yes. Financing is available through Kapilipainting/Financing, subject to approval and applicable terms. See the financing page for details.
