Founded in 2007 by a working painter, we've completed more than 4,000 painting projects across the islands — residential and commercial, from single-story repaints in Kailua to multi-building AOAOs in Kihei.

KAPILI'S HISTORY

Kapili Painting, a division of Kapili Construction LLC (License BC-28938), has proudly served Hawaii since 2007. Founded by Mike Leong — a painter by trade before he was a business owner — we are a family-owned and operated company committed to our mission of "Building a Better Hawaii."

From homes and rentals to AOAOs, HOAs, apartments, hotels, and commercial properties, we deliver quality craftsmanship while creating opportunities and strengthening the communities we serve across Oahu and Maui. More than 4,000 painting projects later, the standard hasn't changed: prep the surface properly, use coatings matched to the conditions, communicate clearly, and stand behind the result.

That consistency comes from the people. Our foremen and crew leads average more than eight years with Kapili — the person running your project isn't a subcontractor rotated in for the week.

Our Approach

How We Work With You

Every project starts with an on-site walkthrough and a written, itemized estimate — prep, materials, and labor broken out separately, so there are no surprises once work begins. Our crews confirm the schedule up front, keep jobsites clean and organized, and follow standard safety practices on every property, residential or commercial.

We handle small residential repaints and large commercial, apartment, AOAO, hotel, and new-construction projects, adjusting crew size and phasing to fit the property. On occupied buildings we schedule around residents and operating hours rather than the other way around. Every project runs under a foreman, and ours average more than eight years with Kapili.

Every project is backed by a two-year workmanship warranty in addition to manufacturer coverage on the coatings.
